During an animal exam, a vet tech is responsible for:

• Talking with the pet owner to collect information and to educate on animal care
• Triage and assistance during emergency care

Hands-on care responsibilities:

• Collecting blood, tissue and fluid samples
• Wound dressing and care
• Administering vaccinations and medications
• Walking and exercising pets

Behind-the-scenes responsibilities:

• Taking x-rays
• Preparing for surgery, including animal and equipment prep
